EVENT RULES

So that the event can be run fairly and safely all competitors must comply with the following rules.

The Golden Rule
You must download your SI card at the end of each race as directed by the marshals whether you have completed your race or not. Downloading your SI card is our check to ensure everyone has returned safely. Therefore failure to download = a missing person = mountain rescue search team and a ban from all future events for the individual concerned.

Registration
All competitors must have completed registration at least 1 hour prior to the start of each race.

Minimum Ages
Whilst participating in the six main iROC™ races, the minimum age of any competitor on the day of the race is 14 years old when accompanied (for the duration of the race) by their parent or guardian who are themselves aged over eighteen.  Over 16’s are welcome to race unaccompanied but can only attend the event along with their parent or guardian who is themselves aged over eighteen. These age categories are subject to final confirmation from our event insurers.

Under 14’s are welcome to race for free at the ‘Come & Try It - Adventure Racing’ races taking place on Saturday 29th May. For full details please click the ‘Come & Try It - Adventure Racing’.

Over 18’s are welcome to race and attend the event without their parent or guardian! There is no maximum age limit.

Mandatory Equipment
Competitors are strongly advised to carry a whistle for the duration of each race.

Depending on the weather conditions the organisers may impose additional safety requirements such as waterproof clothing, hats, gloves etc, which must be worn or carried for the duration of the race. If the organisers announce that any of these items are mandatory there will be kit checks at the start and finish. Competitors without the mandatory equipment before the race will not be allowed to start until they have the correct equipment or clothing. Competitors without the correct equipment or clothing during or at the end of a race will be disqualified from that race. Competitors must submit to kit checks if requested.

Certified cycling helmets must be worn for both of the MTB races.

Headtorches and Bike Lights
For the night orienteering and fell/trail races headtorches are mandatory. For the night MTB race BOTH front and rear lights are mandatory. Rear lights must NOT be in flashing mode while racing. We strongly suggest that you use decent quality lights.

No Prior Inspection of Race Area
Competitors must not seek to gain an unfair advantage by inspecting the race area before the event. Additionally, the race area is on strictly private land and any trespassing by competitors will jeopardize the event.

GPS
GPS devices of any type (including watches) that aid navigation are NOT allowed. Altimeters are acceptable.
